Introduction To The Firm
Caribbean Professional Consultants, of which Edmond Blaize, Jr. is the chief principal, is a company with the ability to assemble the required professional and technical personnel necessary, for the purpose of performing any of the following services:
Architectural design and production of complete construction documents. Performing construction supervision and management (including Cost Estimating). Development and implementation of residential and commercial construction projects.
- Master planning studies and development.
- Landscape design.
- Energy Studies and Design.
- Asbestos abatement and removal oversight and design.
- Drainage studies and design.
- Lighting Design.
- Interior design and space planning.
- Electrical and HVAC design and engineering.
- Structural and system design and engineering.
- Existing site and building surveys.
- Construction bidding assistance.
- Hazard Mitigation and structural upgrade of structures.
- Construction Site Management and Inspections.
- Mechanical/Sanitation/Sewage Design, Maintenance and Inspections.
The company originated in 1984 and is locally licensed under Edmond Blaize-Architect, now doing business as (d/b/a) Caribbean Professional Consultants.
Key personnel, who are available for the project, are the following:
- Two (2) licensed/registered architects
- One (1) licensed/registered structural engineer
- One (1) licensed/registered civil/mechanical engineer
- Three (3) Construction Inspectors
Besides this group, which forms the nucleus of CPC, the company has a supporting professional staff and consultants upon which it can draw, for a wealth of experience and technical expertise, for any specific projects (in the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and the rest of the Caribbean).
The Chief Principal, Edmond Blaize Jr., from 1989-1995, besides spearheading the operation of this private company, was also the territorial director of the Department of Education Engineering Division.
Mr. Udo Penther, the resident structural engineer, has worked and collaborated with Mr. Blaize
on most of the projects. Mr. Blaize and Mr. Penther has designed the structures for many
buildings and complexes in the Virgin Islands and Germany, including Frenchtown Post Office,
American Yacht Harbor Complex and Sugar Hill Mill Condominiums Development to name a
few, in St. Thomas.
Grafton Rodriguez, a very competent licensed civil/mechanical engineer, has a wealth of
experience in the development of construction documents and field inspections of many varied
types of projects. These include schools, wastewater treatment plants, highway, and commercial
and residential structures, both in the Caribbean and the mainland (U.S.A.). He has been
associated with CPC since 1996 and plays a key role in the completion of many projects the
company is involved in.
Under Mr. Blaize's direction, with the able assistance of Mr. Penther, Caribbean Professional Consultants has done many successful private projects over the years. With a vast wealth of experience under their belts, both individually and collectively, the personnel of CPC are more than ready to provide the services required to successfully complete any facet of the construction documentation and management/inspection process.
Professional Capabilities
Caribbean Professional Consultants can offer professional services in many technical areas. Although the specialization of the company has been in the design production of construction documents, coupled with construction supervision and management, CPC's regular staff and consultants, as previously noted, are capable of offering services in many other areas.
With a registered architect, with approximately nineteen (19) years of experience on the varied projects, a structural engineer, with twenty-one (21) years of experience, who is noted as being one of the safest and most reliable in the Virgin Islands, and a civil engineer, with twenty-eight (28) years of experience, who is knowledgeable in mechanical, electrical, sewage and the environmental field; the firm has a string, knowledgeable, foundation on which it can build, as it meets the requirements of each project.
This core group is well complemented, by other professionals, who are extremely knowledgeable in various facets of the design/production and construction management of building's structures.
The equipment and software used by Caribbean Professional Consultants are 21st century compliant. This enables them to provide the required services, to the client, in a timely manner.
